We are dentists that serve the Downey comunity by doing dental checks on every 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students in the Downey Unified School District.


We meet every fourth Thursday of the month, at at the New RioHondo Country Club 10627 Old River School Rd, Downey (between Florence and Firestone).


This month the Downey Dental Academy is honored to have Bob Vartanian speaking on Thursday June 25 at 6 pm.

Presentation topic: Excellence and innovation delivered through Trident Dental Laboratories exclusive products and integration of the latest technology advancements for today’s restorative demands.  The presentation will cover BiteSoft™ Anterior Splint, InStyle Smile™, Tri-Flex™ Flexible Partials, Tricon™ and e.max CAD.

 

Bob Vartanian – Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Bob graduated with a B.S. in Marketing and Management from Atlantic Christian College, Wilson, NC in 1980. With over 22 years of overall sales and marketing experience, Bob started his dental career as the International Sales Manager for Steri-Oss Dental Implants, over seeing Latin America and Asia. He managed the western region for CeraMed and was V.P. of Sales & Marketing for Microdental before joining Trident. He enjoys golfing, tennis and spending time with his family.

Topic: Treatment Planning Advanced Dental Implant Cases and Understanding the Limitations

 

Dr. Nelson Yen will be speaking this evening on the topic of “Treatment Planning Advanced Dental Implant Cases and Understanding the Limitations”.  He will be presenting surgical cases involving an interdisciplinary approach with the restorative dentist, orthodontist, and periodontist.  He will also be discussing how to inform patients when site development with hard and soft tissue grafting may be necessary to achieve implant treatment success.

 

Dr. Yen received his dental degree and periodontal specialty certificate from UCLA School of Dentistry.  He maintains a full-time practice in periodontal medicine, oral plastic surgery, and dental implants in Fullerton, CA.  He is a past recipient of achievement and research awards from the California Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, and the California Society of Periodontists.  Currently, he is the Co-Director of the Regenerative Solutions Dental Institute, and he lectures nationally on the topics of bone and soft tissue grafting and implant dentistry.

 The Downey Dental Academy is honored to have Dr David D. D'Alise speaking on "Simple Placement and Restoration of OCO Mini/ Conventional Implants" on April 23 at 6 pm.

 

Curriculum Vitae: Dr. David D. D’Alise

 

Dr. David D. D’Alise, Albuquerque, New Mexico graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry, Chicago, Illinois in 1965 with graduate work in Dental Education and Hospital Dentistry.  He practiced in Hobbs, New Mexico from 1965 through 1973.  Since January 1974, he has practiced in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

 

He is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Charter Member and past President of the New Mexico Academy of General Dentistry. He presently holds fellowships in the International Congress of Implantology, the Academy of Implants and Transplants, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is an Honored Fellow in the AAID.

 

Dr. D’Alise currently has an active practice specializing in dental implants and has been placing dental implants for over 40 years.  He is also the Chairman and Founder of OCO Biomedical, Inc. in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Dr. D’Alise has designed and patented dental attachment systems and the next generation Dual Stabilization® Dental Implant System designed with immediate loading capabilities. OCO Biomedical’s dental implant and attachment systems are distributed and sold in multiple markets throughout the world

 

 

 

 

 The Downey Dental Academy is honored to have Dr Anthony Bordas speaking on "New advacements in implant dentistry" March 26 at 6pm.


Dr.Bordas has over 20 years experience in Dentistry with a special focus on the field
of Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry. His credentials have enabled him to gain Diplomatic
status with highly respected implant-related professional organizations including the
International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Bordas receives a minimum of 150
hours and as much as 300 hours of eduction in the field of Implant and Cosmetic
Dentistry per year. As a graduate of the Misch Implant Institute Dr. Bordas continues to
receive the latest information in Implant Dentistry.

 The Downey Dental Academy is honored to have Dr Ian Woo February 26 at 6pm speaking on "Dental Trauma"

Biography

Ian Woo DDS Ms MD, a board-eligible surgeon, is in private practice limited to Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Woo is both a licensed physician and a dental specialist. He currently holds the volunteering teaching position as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the LAC/USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. His educational background is very diverse. His formative years were spent under the rigorous British school system in Hong Kong. This was followed by an undergraduate and graduate education in Canada. Dr. Woo then graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry as the class valedictorian in 2002 with multiple awards and honors. He also completed his medical training from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 2005. He then entered a General Surgery internship at the Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA, and a full residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Southern California. Dr. Woo was trained and served as the Chief resident at the Los Angeles County/ University of Southern California Medical Center, one of the world’s largest and busiest trauma centers. This residency allowed Dr. Woo to train extensively and intensely in all aspects of oral and facial surgery where he performed over 1300 documented major and minor procedures with board-certified Oral surgeons, Craniofacial surgeons, Otolaryngologists (ENT surgeons) and Plastic surgeons. Dr. Woo’s unique background and training has allowed him to integrate ideas and techniques from various surgical disciplines. Dr. Woo has published and lectured on numerous topics in dental implant surgery, facial reconstructive surgery and facial cosmetic surgery. He is dedicated to providing his patients with the newest technology and the highest quality of care. Dr. Woo is a diplomate of the American Dental Society of Anesthesia, a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Medical Association and American Dental Association.

Dr. Stephen Ferraro grew up in Downey, California. He attended Rio Hondo Elementary, Griffiths Middle, and Warren High Schools. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999, and he obtained his Dental Degree from the University of Southern California in 2003. Stephen went on to complete a two-year residency in Endodontics at the University of Illinois-at Chicago, receiving his specialty certificate in June 2005. Dr. Ferraro currently practices Endodontics in Downey and Santa Monica. In his spare time, Steve enjoys outdoor activities such as running, biking, and playing beach volleyball.
